Washer and Dryer Tips and Suggestions
|
Your washer and dryer use up a lot of energy, which has an impact on your electrical and water bill.
There are several things you can do to make this better.
First of all, remember that a new washer and dryer are more energy efficient than older ones. If yours are giving you trouble and costing a lot in repairs, consider replacing them.
Use cold water as much as possible in your washer unless your clothes are very soiled. If you have small tots that may be the case, but for adults, cold water is usually enough. Make sure you use the amount of water you need. Most washers now have the feature where you can adjust the water level. Don't overfill the washer, or it will leak and it can also break down because of the weight of the clothes when spinning.
When drying clothes, do not turn on the dryer at the hottest setting. This can damage your clothes, be a fire hazard and also use a lot more electricity. In order to avoid having to iron clothes, make sure you hang them or fold them shortly after they are done drying. |
